The rubber plant, or Ficus elastica, is a species of fig plant native to northeastern India and surrounding regions. This plant’s name is due to the sticky latex it produces, which was discovered to dry into a low-quality rubber. New growth often exhibits shades of pink within the veins, making this a colorful, yet elegant statement plant.
